The imaginary of a spacial future for humanity in the current pandemic contexto emerged as a new challenge for design. The exercise involves the union of vastly distant territories, playing with points of view that should focus on the urgencies of the here and now on Earth, with speculations that invite us to look at the future of humanity in Space. These are the new frontiers that the discipline has gone through since the end of the last century, based on the notion of expanded design with which scenarios of uncertainty and complexity are interpreted. Anticipation, speculation and fiction are recent specialties that connect design with science, technology and art, to interpret formal, scientific, environmental and social aspects. Through a tour of different projects developed in the USA, United Kingdom and Argentina, hybrid design models, contexts and stories that are part of a universal narrative about survival are analyzed.
