Contemporary design problems have reached increasing levels of complexity without new design methods having evolved enough to account for this phenomenon. In this article we present characteristics of these problems and their dynamics, how they evolve, how they behave. As a main contribution to the discussion about new contemporary design methods, we have prepared a rough sketch of the characteristics and behaviors that should be addressed in new design methods that want to account for high levels of complexity.
