Parametric design for mass customization of fixed chairs: human factors and ergonomic logic within the algorithm

The objective of this work is to investigate design possibilities in parametric design aimed at ergonomic quality in the mass customization of fixed chairs. An exploratory research approach was adopted based on methodological triangulation between literature review, documentary research and experimental development. As a result, it was observed that the potential of online configurators is still little explored, but, on the other hand, experimental development demonstrated the feasibility of adopting parametric design as a basis for translating static anthropometric measurements into an individualized product, based on an ergonomic logic inserted into the algorithm.
