The fundamentals of type revival

This study aims to investigate the process of typographic revival present in type design field. Although the type revival practice exists since the creation of the movable type system, it’s not presented with due relevance in specialized literature and often cited as just one of many the practices possibilities in the type design field. Because this is a subject rarely investigated in the design’s literature, this study aims to help to set some foundation stones to this practice. Therefore, from a review of the main aspects of this practice, his most recurrent methodological approaches and limits, it was set a list of parameters that may help in the development of fonts of this nature.
