This article deals with the design project development process and its impacts on the jewelry industry. The authors' experience in the sector made it possible to diagnose critical and common points between companies in the segments that comprise it: jewelry, veneers and costume jewelry. The most recurrent complaints of entrepreneurs in relation to issues related to design can be summarized in the difficulty in working with creations presented through drawings that, although often having good aesthetic attributes, often prove to be unfeasible to production processes or even due to modifications imposed in production by the skill or not of the goldsmiths and patternmakers in carrying out a particular design. These reports expose the technical ignorance of the vast majority of participants in the process as a whole, of the real purpose and meaning of a design project, its implications and impacts on the production process, with consequences for productivity, standardization and product quality. To contextualize the dynamics of jewelry creation and production, we sought to bring the fundamental steps of the design project applied to jewelry.
