Forgotten: uma exploração autoetnográfica de pertencimento através do Design Gráfico

Este artigo apresenta um projeto de pesquisa artística conduzido pela prática que pergunta: Como representar o sentimento de pertencimento (ou não pertencimento) de um estudante internacional chinês por meio da estética da poesia visual? O projeto buscou a poesia concreta como estratégia visual para desenvolver um resultado de design composto por duas publicações usando um layout tipográfico experimental e dois cartazes correspondentes. Esta pesquisa emprega a autoetnografia e a investigação heurística como abordagem metodológica do processo criativo para alcançar altos níveis de originalidade. Com base na experiência pessoal, este projeto de pesquisa explora a falta de sentimento de pertencimento enfrentada por um estudante chinês em um lugar desconhecido quando estudava inicialmente em Aotearoa, Nova Zelândia. Em uma resposta de design a essa perda provisória de pertencimento, o projeto investigou indivíduos perfilados para analisar duas emoções negativas específicas: inquieto e solitário. Além disso, o projeto aplica a escrita poética à auto-narrativa para aumentar o potencial de expressão pessoal, metaforicamente contando histórias enquanto cria um artefato tipográfico visual que rompe com a forma tradicional da prosa escrita. O projeto é uma retrospectiva de si mesmo, articulando graficamente duas emoções inesquecíveis decorrentes de dois dos períodos mais profundos que afetaram a pesquisadora. Por um lado, o projeto dá mais um passo em direção à autocompreensão e ajuda o espectador a entender as questões de pertencimento vivenciadas por estudantes chineses em um país estrangeiro. Por outro lado, contribui para a discussão da autoetnografia e da investigação heurística como forma de alcançar a originalidade no design gráfico.
